  4.    Thank you for taking the time to read this DIDnet Information Kit.

  6.    DRAGnet is committed to providing professional-caliber services and 
  7. fulfilling a mission focused on quality disability information.  After 
  8. three years and many, many efforts to work through existing networks, we 
  9. started our own network so we remain accountable to the people who 
  10. benefit from it.   In short, the "WHY" is because we believe we can 
  11. deliver a better value, a stronger, more useful product if we own the 
  12. store rather than simply make deliveries for someone else.

  14.    We feel cyberspace itself is undergoing an evolution from a few all-
  15. purpose network providers to an environment of many "niche" or meta-
  16. networks and echomail conference providers.  At the same time, the 
  17. attitude that BBS technology is little more than an interesting "hobby" 
  18. which should staunchly avoid anything that benefits the commercial 
  19. sector seems to us a very short-sighted one.  It is further complicated 
  20. by the mistaken idea that simply because a network relies upon 
  21. volunteers that there can be no accountability for the network's 
  22. technical performance.  Such ideas inhibits the flow of information to 
  23. those who need it.
